Pre-care instructions

How to prepare before your appointment

How you care for your skin, lashes, and body before a service can affect comfort, safety, healing, and final results. Follow the specific instructions from your artist when they are different from this general guide.

Safety first

Tell us before booking if any condition may affect service

Please contact the studio before your appointment if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, diabetic, on blood thinners, prone to keloids, undergoing chemotherapy or radiation, have epilepsy, have active skin disease in the procedure area, have a new scar in the area, recently used Accutane / isotretinoin, or are under medical care for a condition that may affect healing.

We may ask you to reschedule, obtain written medical clearance, book a consultation first, or decline a service that is not appropriate for you. Trish's Lashes provides beauty services only and does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment.

Cosmetic tattoo services

Permanent makeup eligibility reminders

  • Do not book permanent makeup if you have an active infection, open wound, rash, sunburn, or irritated skin in the procedure area.
  • If you have diabetes, autoimmune conditions, blood-clotting concerns, history of keloids, recent surgery, or are under a physician's care, ask your doctor whether cosmetic tattooing is appropriate for you.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, contact your physician about antiviral medication before lip blush. Lip blush cannot be performed over an active cold sore or fever blister.
  • Permanent makeup results are not guaranteed. Skin type, lifestyle, health, prior work, and healing all affect the final cosmetic outcome.

The day before

24 hours before permanent makeup

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, pre-workout, and energy drinks when possible.
  • Avoid blood-thinning medication or supplements only if your physician says it is safe for you to do so. Do not stop prescribed medication without medical approval.
  • Hydrate, eat normally, and get enough rest before your appointment.
  • Do not arrive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The appointment will be declined or rescheduled.

Skin preparation

2 weeks before permanent makeup

  • Avoid chemical peels, laser, invasive facial treatments, microneedling, aggressive exfoliation, and strong resurfacing treatments in the procedure area.
  • Avoid Botox, fillers, brow henna, brow tinting, and tinting in the procedure area unless your artist gives different timing.
  • Pause retinoids, acids, exfoliants, and active skin care near the procedure area as directed by your artist or medical professional.
  • Do not tan or arrive sunburned. Sun-damaged or irritated skin cannot be safely worked on.

Eye services

Lash extensions, lifts, tints, perms, and eyeliner

  • Arrive with clean lashes and no mascara, strip-lash glue, eyeliner, eye shadow, or heavy eye cream.
  • Remove lash extensions before lash lift, lash perm, lash tint, or permanent eyeliner appointments unless your artist tells you otherwise.
  • For permanent eyeliner or lash enhancement, remove lash extensions at least 2 days before the appointment.
  • Bring glasses if you wear contact lenses. Your artist may ask you to remove contacts before eye services.
  • Tell us about eye surgery, eye infection, sensitivities, allergies, dry eye, glaucoma, or any eye medication before service.

Lip blush

Before lip blush

  • Gently exfoliate dry or chapped lips before your visit, but do not over-scrub or create irritation.
  • Keep lips moisturized in the days leading up to the appointment.
  • Do not receive lip filler, lip tattoo correction, aggressive exfoliation, or lip treatments too close to the appointment unless your artist approves the timing.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, speak with your physician about antiviral medication before the procedure.
  • Do not come in with an active cold sore, fever blister, open cut, or cracked bleeding lips.

Hair removal

Before waxing

  • Hair should be long enough for wax to grip. About 1/4 inch is usually a good guide.
  • Avoid retinoids, Accutane / isotretinoin, peels, acids, exfoliation, laser, tanning, and sunburn near the waxed area.
  • Do not wax over open skin, irritated skin, active rash, infection, fresh bruising, or recent injectables unless cleared by a professional.
  • Arrive with clean skin and avoid heavy lotion or oil on the area.

What to expect

Appointment day

  • Arrive on time with clean skin or lashes for your service.
  • Bring reference photos if helpful, but understand final results are designed around your skin, natural features, and service suitability.
  • Tell your artist about allergies, medications, recent procedures, prior cosmetic tattoo work, and any concern that changed since booking.
  • Plan your day so you can follow aftercare immediately after leaving the studio.

Review aftercare instructions before your visit so you know what to avoid after service.
